Postnatal Massage
Member Price: $150.00
After birth, the body undergoes massive changes. Our doula-trained LMT provides quality care to retrain your brain-body connection, close the birth channel, and provide relief as your body heals.
At Precision Clinical Bodywork in Mechanicsville, serving the Richmond area, Postnatal Massage is supportive care for the recovery phase after birth. It is designed to help you feel more comfortable in your body as daily demands change, tension builds in new places, and the body adjusts after delivery. It does not replace postpartum medical follow-up.
Why do clients book postnatal massage?
- Neck, shoulder, low-back, and hip tension from feeding, carrying, holding, and interrupted sleep
- A feeling of depletion, disconnection, or physical overload after birth
- The need for bodywork that feels quieter and more recovery focused
- Support while easing back into normal movement and routine
What should you expect from the session?
The session should meet you where you are instead of asking you to push through. Some clients need targeted work in a few high-load areas. Others need more full-body downshifting and a better sense of comfort in their body again. The treatment should feel supportive, practical, and appropriate for the stage of recovery you are in.
What makes postnatal massage different from regular massage?
The context matters. The body is recovering, daily movement patterns change fast, and the highest-load areas are often tied to feeding, carrying, sleep disruption, and overall depletion. Postnatal care should account for that instead of treating the session like a standard massage with no postpartum context. We make space for new parents to bring baby along to the session, if needed, so they can continue nursing or bonding, make accommodations for body changes following birth, and include restorative practices to support the body as it returns to a new normal.
What can postnatal massage support?
Postnatal massage can support comfort, body awareness, and muscular recovery while your routine and physical load are changing. It is especially useful when the body is doing a lot of repetitive work and there has not been much time to recover between days. Many of our new parents are not sleeping well, may be struggling with new or unusual tension patterns, or need supportive care as the abdomen and hips heal.
